At Genetest Corporation it is our mission to offer novel DNA solutions to genetic diagnostic problems. Our series of ancestry diagnostic services provides a comprehensive menu of services to determine genetic ancestry along maternal lines, paternal lines and human origin elucidation in combination with geneological studies.

Novel extraction techniques allow for special cases when samples may not be available to prove a necessary relationship. A few strands of hair, clothing, swabs or blood testing are some of the sample types used repeatedly in establishing genetic identity relationships with certain accuracy.

Genetest in Focus
Paternal Ancestry

Trace the origin of the direct paternal line (father's father's father, etc) Only men carry the Y-chromosome so it is passed only from father to son. There are 18 major paternal lineages (haplogroups) that have been identified worldwide. The Y-SNP test determines which one of the 18 lineages to which you belong and provides the broad geographic region throughout which the lineage is found (Example: Oceania, Africa, Asia, Americas). Only males can take this test. Women interested in their paternal ancestry need a father, brother, paternal uncle or paternal male cousin take the test. >More

Maternal Ancestry

Trace the origin of the direct maternal line (mother's mother's mother, etc). mtDNA (mitochondrial DNA) is passed down from mother to child. Men have their mother's mtDNA, but do not pass it on to their children. There are 30 major maternal lineages (haplogroups) that have been identified worldwide. The mtDNA test determines which one of the 30 maternal lineages they belong to and provides the broad geographic region throughout which the lineage is found (Example: Africa, Europe, Middle East). >More

Native American DNA

Native American DNA Diagnostic analysis provides detailed genetic information to establish origins of Native American Ancestry. Native American individuals belong to one of five major maternal lineages (A, B, C, D or X). A primary Global mtDNA is primarily performed to establish sequences belonging to one of the 5 Native American lineages. Subsequently submitted samples are runs against extensive Native American mtDNA database to identify geographic and tribal matches within the Americas. >More

Ethnic Ancestry

Ethnic Ancestry DNA Testing determinaed the genetic percentage of Native American, European, East Asian, and African ancestry a person has based on their autosomal DNA profile. To determine the percentage of DNA a person has from each of these four groups, the test examines 175 Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs). These 175 SNPs have been selected based on their bio-geographic polymorphism patterns, and are referred to as Ancestry Informative Markers (AIMs). The alleles found at these marker locations show very high specificity for people from particular populations, ethnicity and/or geographical regions. >More
